Summary:
Provide clinical and consultation work as part of the treatment team. Duties involve functioning as a member of the team in delivering clinical services for clients in outpatient settings, providing services to individuals, groups and/or families. Exercise considerable independence of judgment in the application of professional counseling to an identified caseload of clients with individual and/or family problems requiring a variety of intervention, service techniques and skills. This position has the potential for supervisory responsibilities and more frequent responsible contacts with outside agencies and groups.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assess client needs and eligibility for services.
Provide selected services to an identified caseload, referring clients to other services as appropriate.
Develop and maintain client case records, plans and reports.
Attend and testify at court proceedings, as needed.
Work with schools and other agencies to coordinate and facilitate services to clients.
Attend in-services, staffing and other meetings as assigned. May be appointed to committees.
Participate in agency and community planning and education.
Provide peer consultation/new staff training; may be assigned lead worker role as the need arises.
Participate in developing company policies and procedures with regard to social work practices and program needs.
Conduct intake evaluations/screenings with client and/or family.
Conduct psychosocial evaluations.
Participate regarding treatment plan of care of clients.
Maintain contact with clients for counseling and adjustment to treatment.
Communicate with family regarding client adjustment and plan of care when indicated.
Consult with psychiatrist to provide follow-through in treatment of clients.
Aid clients in responding to financial, legal and personal matters as indicated.
Communicate with team regarding treatment planning and client adaptation.
Provide psychotherapy/counseling services to a diverse clinical population utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, including individual, group and family therapy.
Consult with community agencies and groups.
Function as a case manager for a diverse clinical population.
Deliver emergency and crisis services.
Participate in individual supervision/consultation as needed. Screen and assign cases in supervisor’s absence.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Perform related work as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The attributes listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of social work/counseling.
Extensive knowledge of the laws and regulations that apply to the operation of state and county hospitals and state and federal human service programs, to include statutes governing the civil commitment process and protective services.
Ability to maintain accurate, current records and prepare clear, concise reports from them.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the company.
Extensive knowledge of current social and economic problems and ways in which these problems affect individuals and families.
Extensive knowledge of human service and health resources and how to utilize them.
Ability to make assessments and provide appropriate social casework treatment.
Ability to plan and organize work effectively.
Ability to function independently as a member of a treatment team.
Familiarity with medications associated with mental health.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s or doctoral degree from in counseling from an accredited school
Licensed by SC Board of Counseling.
One year of experience working with the population to be served.
